Description Reminder: Hempcrete Salon tomorrow, Wed. 3/28/18! Interested in hempcrete building? Bring your ideas and suggested places to build! You are invited and bring a pal! *** THE SCENE: 1st Oregonians for Industrial Hemp Hempcrete Salon ** DATE & TIME: Wed., March 28, 2018 4-6 pm * LOCATION: Cafe Yumm 730 E. Broadway (crnr. Hilyard), Eugene 97401 (one with solar cells on roof; go to Kirei Room) Free! (donations accepted to pay small $25 rental fee). Also, 50% of the food is organic. You are receiving this email because in recent years you have expressed interest in Industrial Hemp! Fortuitously, I met a builder at the Lane County Home Show who said he may be interested in a hempcrete project; he will attend the meeting. Is it time to discuss and potentially build a small hempcrete building locally to introduce hempcrete for housing or other uses? Could stalks be collected from growers small and large and made into hempcrete with lime or other mineral? Hempcrete could be purchased from Canada, Europe or elsewhere until the PNW has a factory or learn how to make it ourselves! Hurds of hemp is an incredible material-the left over product of hemp stalk after high grade fiber used for dozens of other uses. Hempcrete is fire, water, termite and rodent resistant even -proof. In 3 months on 4 acres enough material for a 1,200 sf hemp house could be grown! In England they asked: why trash hemp hurds in the dump when they could be used for building? They took a cue from Madame Perrier's decades of building with Isochanvre in France; some low income and other housing been built in England! We could initially line up with groups who have done workshops (HempAce.com in WA or Hempcrete.ca Canada, or others?). Whether it be a hemp tiny house or a hempcrete accessory unit, standard size house, dog house or greenhouse? (Hemp tiny houses was one topic at last year's 7th International Hemp Symposium, Canada; a WA senior is crowd funding to build one with NW EcoBuilding Guild). The field is open as industrial hemp starts gaining attention in Oregon and elsewhere! (I am talking about hemp other than CBD which has gained popularity.) (if unable to attend, and have ideas or suggestions for a place to build a hempcrete structure, or want to send this to others, pls. let me know your ideas and share email and phone numbers of others if possible with me. One suggestion is to approach Oregon Country Fair and have a hempcrete structure built on a flatbed truck as a regular feature of future fairs. Workshops could be held all one or all three days of Fair or before or after the Fair, for instance. Or Lane County Fair or State Fair etc. A portable exhibit could be taken to various county fairs as a fair attraction. See HempBuilding.com and I will have a copy of the paperback book Building with Hemp. E-edition also has hundreds of photos, less money than paperback from Ireland! To be inspired, put Hemp Houses in YouTube or other place on Net to see that the field is wide open! Bringing It Home: Hemp is HOPE is a video about hemp building in USA. (BTW: Oregon State University Industrial Hemp class will be offered the next two terms as always ON LINE - if you do not want credit, you do not have to take tests, do papers! Oregonians 65+ can take it free with permission from instructor, easy to obtain; otherwise anyone worldwide can take it for apx. $800. http://catalog.oregonstate.edu/ChapterDetail.aspx?key=148
